John 18:37C-38A

You are a king, then! said Pilate. Jesus answered, You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me. What is truth?

Romans 8:3 NLT

The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent his own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.

John 1:14 NIV84

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Matthew 5:17-19C

Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For assuredly I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law until all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

God’s law is a Teacher.

Galatians 3:24-25 NKJV

Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ. The law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

God’s law is a Mirror.

James 1:23-25

For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

Romans 7:7C NLT

I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, You must not covet.

God’s law is a Map.

Psalms 119:105 ESV

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

John 8:44C NLT

He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Romans 1:18, 22, 25

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth. Although they claim to be wise, they became fools. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie.

John 14:6 NLT

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me.

John 8:44b NIV

Relativism

Subjectivism

Relativism is the assumption that there is no such thing as absolute truth.

Hegelian Dialectic: Thesis + Antithesis = Synthesis

Subjectivism – I, the subject, have the right to determine what is right and wrong without submitting my judgement to any authority outside myself.

Truth is not just a what but a who.

John 1:1-2, 14 NIV

What you believe as truth will determine how you behave and how you behave has ramifications not just in this world but in eternity.

John 8:32 NIV
